ABOUT
“Black Madonnas” are statues or paintings of Virgin Mary and infant Jesus with dark skin, and in this era when Christian churches are examining and reconstructing our ideas about racism and sexism, they stand as figures of hope and endurance. They also speak to our personal connection to the Divine and remind us we are not alone. While ancient and sacred, there is a mystery to the Black Madonna statues and locations. This pilgrimage on the path of Love through France introduces pilgrims to some of the more famous and lesser-known Black Madonnas. This nine-day pilgrimage by motorcoach departs from Paris (flights to Paris not included) and visits Orleans, Chartres, Moulins, Vichy, St. Gervazy, and Mayres before returning to Paris.
Our time in Paris is unstructured and additional nights are available in central Paris, so you can spend as much time as you like.
A pilgrimage postures us for spiritual transformation. This is an opportunity to share with others in a rebirth of Christ in our own hearts. Along the way, we will have free time to listen and opportunities for group-led worship. This itinerary offers a glance at what you can expect on your pilgrimage. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.
