ABOUT
This twelve-day pilgrimage provides an exploration of the history of the Presbyterian Church in Scotland and explores peacebuilding and reconciliation related to The Troubles in Northern Ireland. We’ll explore important sites related to John Knox and the Presbyterian Church in Scotland, including Glasgow, St. Andrews, and Edinburgh. We’ll spend two nights on the Isle of Iona in the Inner Hebrides, an early Christian center in Scotland and a place where the veil between earth and heaven grows thin. In Northern Ireland, we’ll visit Belfast and Derry, two cities that were centers of violence and discord during the Troubles, but which continue to work towards a peaceful future. Our time in Northern Ireland is spent at the Corrymeela Community, a Christian community that is Northern Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organization. This itinerary offers a glance at what to expect; schedule may be adjusted for efficiency or guide availability.
