Unlike many tour providers that offer pre-determined itineraries, we will work with your pastor or group leader to build a trip that meets the needs and desires of your group. We have focused on the Holy Land and Scotland and also have experience traveling in Europe. The pilgrimages listed below are samples that are popular with many travelers. Contact us to build a tour that meets the interests, abilities, and budget of your group.
Our Holy Land pilgrimages combine the best of Biblical studies, spirituality, history, politics, and culture. We recommend a minimum of ten days (including travel time) to see the “must-see” sights for first-time visitors including the Temple Mount/Dome of the Rock, Tomb of Jesus, Bethlehem, River Jordan, and Sea of Galilee Region. Ten days also allows time for two or three more contemporary experiences. These might include taking a cooking class with Palestinian women, visiting an interfaith school, lectures with local scholars, or learning from peacemaking groups. A longer trip allows the group to either see more or move at a more relaxed pace.
For every group, Progressive Pilgrimage provides an ordained spiritual guide so that your pastor can relax and enjoy the trip. We also provide a six-series study guide to help prepare the group for their pilgrimage.
Progressive Pilgrimage will coordinate your group’s airfare, accommodations, and all experience while on the ground. We often use two or three different guides from differing backgrounds so that you get a well-rounded understanding of the modern religious and social context. Most trips cost $225 – $250 per person per day, plus airfare. Most groups aim for about 20 participants, but we can work with groups between 12 and 45 travelers.

Trips to Ireland and Scotland typically focus on Celtic spirituality, peacemaking in Northern Ireland, and/or Presbyterian history in Scotland. As with the Holy Land, we recommend a minimum of ten days for only one country and a minimum of 12 days if you wish to visit both countries. Many groups choose to visit the Book of Kells and St. Patrick’s Cathedral in Dublin, the Celtic Spirituality Centre in Armagh, the passage tombs at Newgrange, peacemaking tours in Derry and Belfast, Edinburgh Cathedral, the isle of Iona, and more.
In addition to excellent local guides, Progressive Pilgrimage will send an ordained spiritual guide to make sure you are not only tourists but pilgrims who pause to look for God’s presence along the way. A daily devotional journal helps situate sites in their historical and spiritual context.
