Footsteps of Paul in Greece and Turkey with Pinnacle Presbyterian Church

ABOUT

Greece has often been called the birthplace of democracy and the cradle of Western Civilization. Together with Turkey, it is also the earliest home of Christianity outside of Israel. This 13-day pilgrimage traces the footsteps of Paul in Greece and Turkey, including the well-preserved ruins of Athens, Corinth, Philippi, and Thessaloniki in Greece. Along the way, you’ll marvel at the Byzantine monasteries perched on the cliffs of Meteora. In Turkey visit Ephesus (a UNESCO World Heritage Site), Pergamum, and Smyrna – three of the churches of Revelation. Conclude your pilgrimage with two days exploring the wonders of Istanbul including Hagia Sophia, the Blue Mosque, the spice market, and a “whirling dervish” performance. PRICING

Trip price includes round-trip airfare from Phoenix, airfare between Athens and Izmir, accommodations, ground transportation in private deluxe motorcoach, entry fees, local guides, meals, gratuities, pre-trip educational resources, and accompaniment by an ordained spiritual guide.

En route to Athens, enjoy time in the scenic Meteora region, with its Byzantine monasteries. This pilgrimage includes cruise excursions with a private guide at the UNESCO World Heritage Site at Ephesus and at the Grotto of the Apocalypse on Patmos. Revelation and Empire in Turkey with Princeton Theological Seminary

ABOUT

While Christianity was born in first-century Palestine, it began its global spread through Asia Minor and became the religion of the empire in Constantinople, now Istanbul. On this 12-day journey participants will reflect on the themes of faith and empire – both ancient and contemporary – as they travel through Turkey. The pilgrimage begins in Istanbul where ancient and modern live side-by-side. Participants will visit historic sites, take in the city’s rich culture, and experience the faith traditions of Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Journeying south from Istanbul, the pilgrimage shifts its focus to early Christianity and the churches of Revelation. Visits to archaeological sites will bring to light not only the history of the early church but the surrounding culture with all its influences and pressures. The pilgrimage also visits sites associated with the missionary activity of the Apostle Paul including Colossae and the well-preserved ruins of Ephesus. Land price $3,885 per person, double occupancy. Single supplement of $450.

The first payment of $300 will be due December 5, 2023.
