ABOUT
While Christianity was born in first-century Palestine, it began its global spread through Asia Minor and became the religion of the empire in Constantinople, now Istanbul. On this 12-day journey participants will reflect on the themes of faith and empire – both ancient and contemporary – as they travel through Turkey. The pilgrimage begins in Istanbul where ancient and modern live side-by-side. Participants will visit historic sites, take in the city’s rich culture, and experience the faith traditions of Christians, Muslims, and Jews. Journeying south from Istanbul, the pilgrimage shifts its focus to early Christianity and the churches of Revelation. Visits to archaeological sites will bring to light not only the history of the early church but the surrounding culture with all its influences and pressures. The pilgrimage also visits sites associated with the missionary activity of the Apostle Paul including Colossae and the well-preserved ruins of Ephesus. This itinerary offers a glance at what you can expect in your 12-day pilgrimage. The schedule may be adjusted for efficiency and guide availability.
